iPhone VS Magnets

Magnets in iPhone 12

As seen in the iPhone 12 perspective view, the magnetic suction charging system components are structured with a unique wire-wound coil to withstand greater receiving power, capture magnetic flux through a nanocrystal panel, and an improved shield to more safely receive wireless fast charging.

A dense array of magnets is integrated at the periphery of the wireless receiving coil to achieve automatic alignment and adsorption with other magnetic suction accessories, thereby improving wireless reception efficiency. Equipped with a highly sensitive magnetometer that reacts immediately to changes in magnetic field strength, iPhone 12 is able to quickly identify magnetic suction accessories ready for wireless charging.

The iPhone 12 prototype has a circle of magnets on the back, with a total of 36 magnets, and the “NSNS” magnetic poles are arranged in a staggered manner. This means that Apple is preparing to enable the magnetic wireless charging solution in the iPhone 12 series models. And the set of magnetic wireless charging program has applied for patent protection; power, Apple will likely support the maximum 15W wireless charging.

At the same time, strong magnets are a very common part in Apple devices, such as Apple’s new iPad Pro, which has as many as 102 small magnets stuffed into it, but its main purpose is not for wireless charging, but to allow precise alignment between iPad and other accessories such as protective cases, Apple Pencil, Smart Connector keyboards, and so on, and to achieve a tight fit.

Magnetic suction advantages

When the iPhone 12 is placed, the magnetic charger will automatically align with the magnetic ring on the phone and adsorb firmly because of the strong magnetic force. The transmitting coil and receiving coil achieve a millimeter-level alignment accuracy that cannot be achieved by manual placement, thus achieving high efficiency and high power charging.

The wireless charging system is easy to use compared to wired charging, but the process of transmitting energy across the air is very dependent on the precise alignment of the transmitting and receiving coils, and Apple’s application of magnetic suction technology to wireless charging solves the problem of difficult alignment of wireless charging.

There is no possibility of putting crooked so that the wireless charging efficiency is optimized, and it becomes feasible to increase the wireless charging power, allowing this generation of iPhone 12 wireless charging power to double from 7.5W to 15W, significantly increasing the speed of wireless charging and reducing user waiting time.

New market for magnets

As the iPhone 12 uses a new magnetic wireless charging solution, third-party wireless chargers must have a magnetic function in order to be compatible with the new iPhone wireless charging. This will directly lead to the demand for magnets in the wireless charging market becoming very large.
